Composer / Lyricist / Pianist / Illustrator

Someday We’ll Look Back and Laugh was composed for my lover, who was feeling disheartened during a particularly difficult stretch of time.

Fairy Knowe Suite is my musical self-portrait 15 minutes in length. Its 6 movements offer childlike innocence unfurling into creative maturity.

Pacific forms a 3 act play envisioned as the struggle between a lifeguard and his rescue. It is a metaphor for a tragic love relationship.

Nipper’s Yap Rap is my comedic tour de force, conjuring the real canine personality who became Victor Talking Machine’s advertising mascot.

Cocktail piano arrangements were honed on the Steinway grand piano for private parties at The Philadelphia Four Seasons Hotel in the 1980s.

In 2013, having taken up residence at The Victor Lofts in Camden NJ, I immediately began supporting the Camden 3rd Thursday ArtCrawl by entertaining on the Steinway in The Caruso Room. Blossoming quite unexpectedly as a result of that decision was my musical trio CamdenPopRock (aka CPR Music Invincible).

Vedra Chandler (veteran of Cirque du Soleil) attended my solo show in August 2015 and immediately agreed to collaborate on the upcoming Homecoming show at Rutgers University. Precisely one year later, Craig Storrod (BBC/West End) joined us. Chameleons all, the three of us happily embarked upon a show biz program that can best be described as “A Century of Hit Tunes, from Fanny Brice to Bruno Mars!”

Over the next few years, I embraced Apple’s Pixelmator software and created our jazzy promotional materials, designing more than 75 individual posters, album covers and business cards.

Below are samples of my illustration work. I was finally making my mark in Art, Music & Ideas!โ€‚๐Ÿ โ€‚๐Ÿ.โ€‚๐Ÿ

The OZ concert at ACADEMY OF VOCAL ARTS was a very special event for us! We leased the historic music venue with the financial assistance of one of our generous music fans, Mr. Vox Parvis. As a thank you, I designed Vox’s name in box letters atop the office building on the left.

The Caruso Room at The Victor Lofts was an elegant place for CamdenPopRock – later dubbed CPR Music Invincible – to try out a dozen new songs each month, with colorful themes announced in our adverts. Our maturing songbook featured 350 heartfelt tunes covering a galaxy of musical styles which we were able to perform at a moment’s notice. Our unique shows celebrated Disney, Motown, The Beatles, Prince, Broadway, Tin Pan Alley, TV Sitcom Jingles, Originals, etc!

Boy, did we fly amazingly high and proud!

In 2018 we leased recording studio space and cut a CD, offering it for sale at our live shows.

I am very proud of CPR’s business card, which documents our name change from “CamdenPopRock” to “CPR Music Invincible”. While my final layout showcasing three identical music notes in a chorus line seems inevitable, it actually evolved from dozens of dogged attemptsโ€‚:โ€‚)

The poster above presents our breezy (clueless) outlook as COVID was breathing heavily down our necks. We had no idea we were about to cease live performances. Our 6 gigs per month across The Delaware Valley and NYC was about to become history.

Only a few weeks later, the law required us to be socially distant. We launched our first virtual show “APRIL ISOLATION”.

And get this: Inasmuch as a pianist’s world is his ears and his charts and his nimble fingers on the keyboard, when the video was released on April 16, 2020, I was finally, finally able to enjoy the professional magic on Vedra and Craig’s faces as they performed for the camera!!! Our 6 virtual shows have become a treasure, especially for me. Thank you Craig, for producing, mixing, editing, and launching our videos!! https://youtu.be/RpEgJYgQzAM

After producing six virtual shows in 2020, it was time for us to shift gears. My retirement at the tender age of 72 seemed appropriate. Craig gently named our farewell concert in Scottish Gaelic: “Mar Sin Laet, Christopher”โ€ƒ https://youtu.be/R_KNWzCc88Q?si=PYPAr7GXyTj91Lzv

I purchased Old Schoolhouse on the Scottish island of Stronsay, Orkney UK. In August I shipped a 20′ container full of furniture across the Atlantic, including my Steinway grand piano. By November – without skipping a beat and separated by thousands of miles – Vedra, Craig and I were actively creating our 2020 Virtual Holiday Show!!โ€‚ Imagine our “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire” and “My Snowman and Me”.โ€‚We did it!โ€‚ https://youtu.be/HY3lnogFlWo?si=Tw0pnjx9bq5HOoV-

โ€‚Since that time, I have officially launched my beloved international multimedia one man showโ€‚“Just For The Record”, enriched with original jazz compositions: https://youtu.be/c8L7ibbPaZE
